Coding a Document Part 1: Auto-Fill and Signature Basics
Learn how auto-fill and signature fields work together in OCC documents.
Article Introduction
Documents in One Click Contractor can automatically fill in information and collect signatures. To achieve this, documents must be prepared with both form fields and signature fields before being uploaded and used.
What Document Coding Means
Coding a document refers to preparing it so that it can:
- Automatically pull and auto fill information from the job
- Collect signatures
- Take notes on certain forms
This is done by combining form fields and signature fields in the same document.
Auto-Fill Fields
Auto-fill fields pull information that already exists in the job.
This may include:
- Customer information
- Job information
- Company information
- Sales representative information
When the document is used, these fields are automatically filled in without manual entry.
Signature Fields
Signature fields define who needs to sign the document and what they must complete.
These fields can include:
- Signatures
- Initials
- Names
- Dates
- Checkboxes
Each field is assigned to a specific signer.
How Auto-Fill and Signatures Work Together
Both auto-fill and signature fields must exist in the same document.
- Auto-fill ensures information is populated automatically
- Signature fields ensure the correct people complete the document
If either is missing, the document may not function as expected.
What to Expect
Once properly prepared:
- Information will populate automatically when the document is generated
- Users will only complete the fields assigned to them
- The document will follow the correct signing flow
