Coding a Document Part 3: Adding Signature Fields

Learn how to add signature fields using Scribble and assign them to the correct signer in OCC.

Article Introduction

Signature fields define who needs to complete and sign a document in One Click Contractor. These fields are added using the Scribble tool and control the signing experience for customers and your team.


What Signature Fields Are Used For

Signature fields are used to collect:

  • Signatures
  • Initials
  • Names (as text fields when needed)
  • Dates

Using Scribble

Adding a Field

  • Click Add Field
  • Draw Field on Document using your mouse
  • Click Field to Edit

Understanding the Field Panel

When selecting a field, you will see options such as:

  • Kind
  • Role
  • Required
  • Coordinates and Size

Setting the Field Type (Kind)

Common uses:

  • Text → Used for names that need to be entered manually
  • Signature → Signature field
  • Initial → Initials
  • Date → Used when a different date is required

Assigning the Role (Signer)

In the Role field, enter:

  • signera → Customer
  • signerb → Sales Representative
  • signerc → Additional Customer

Each field must be assigned to the correct signer.

Required vs Optional Fields

  • Check Required Box to make the field mandatory

When selected:

  • The field will be marked as required
  • The left panel will update to show the required count
  • The box color will change to red

 

 

⚠️ Deleting Fields Correctly

  • Click Trash Icon to delete a field

Do not delete fields using your keyboard, as this may not remove them properly.


Saving Your Document

  • Click Save

This will download the updated document with signature fields applied.
