Smart Interiors Manually Adding Rooms

Manually Adding Rooms The previous section covered how a user can, through use of a PLNAR Project automatically create rooms in the system for use in estimation. As we discussed earlier this Smart Interiors estimation feature does not require this.

Manually Creating Room(s)

Browse to the Measurements Tab and go to the Interiors Tab. From this section you can either click the “Add” button in the middle of the screen or utilize the “+ Measurement” button in the top right corner.

When adding a room, the only required box is “Name”. Similar to the way we add windows and doors manually there is an option for you to select a quantity (defaults to 1) to bulk create a bunch of rooms (Room, Room 2, Room 3 if you were to enter a quantity of 3 for example).

In this example, I’m entering a name of “Room” and clicking “Save Changes”

After clicking “Save Changes” the system will create a new Room. To enter the values for the individual measurements you will need to click the “Edit” button to expose the editing capabilities.

Now, you might be asking, why do we add the room and then use the “Edit” feature to actually put the values in the room? Good question … this was a design decision which was made because of the sheer quantity of input values for rooms. There are well over 25 individual values available for a room (which will only likely increase over time.

This will change the interface into “Edit” mode where the user can enter values.

After values are edited and you’re ready to save, simply click the “Save Changes” button in the top right corner to save your changes.

Editing Rooms

Any room which has been added (whether manually or via PLNAR) can be edited to change the name, level, or any individual measurement values.

Pro Tip: After updating a value you cannot easily “revert” back to the value provided previously (whether PLNAR or manually entered).
