Understanding Auto-Filled and Coded Documents

Learn how auto-filled and coded documents work in OCC and how they are prepared before uploading.

Article Introduction

Documents in One Click Contractor can automatically populate information and include fields for signing. These documents are prepared before uploading and are used in proposals, agreements, and other customer-facing workflows.

What Auto-Filled Documents Do

Auto-filled documents pull information from the job and company details already entered in the system.

This may include:

  • Customer information

  • Job information

  • Company information

This information is pulled from the Information Tab and applied directly to the document, reducing manual entry and ensuring consistency.

What Coded Documents Do

Coded documents include interactive fields that are used during the signing process.

These fields ensure that documents are ready to be completed by all required parties.

Coded elements may include:

  • Signature fields

  • Initial fields

  • Date fields

  • Text input fields

These fields are used when the document is sent for signing.

How Auto-Fill and Coding Work Together

Auto-fill and coding are applied to a single document before it is uploaded into OCC.

A document can be configured to:

  • Use auto-fill only

  • Use coding only

  • Use both auto-fill and coding

  • Use neither

How Documents Are Prepared Before Uploading

Documents are prepared outside of OCC before being uploaded.

  • Create Form Fields using a PDF tool such as Adobe

  • Apply Coding using Scribble

Both steps can be applied to the same document depending on how the document is intended to function.

What to Expect

  • Auto-filled data appears when the document is generated

  • Coded fields activate during the signing process

  • Documents behave based on how they were prepared before upload
