Understanding the structure of an Estimate
This article focuses on the core structure of an estimate and what it contains. Step-by-step workflows are covered in separate knowledge base articles.
Article Introduction
An estimate in One Click Contractor is built using a structured hierarchy designed to organize pricing, scope, and presentation clearly. This structure allows businesses to create anything from simple quotes to highly detailed, multi-category proposals depending on their configuration and onboarding setup.
Main Estimate Structure
An estimate is composed of layered components that work together:
Groups
Groups organize work by category or topic, such as Roofing, Windows, or Siding.
-
Each group appears as a tab within the estimate.

Groups can be included or not included in pricing.

Line Items
Line items are the individual products or services.
-
Line items are pulled directly from the Price List
-
They contain descriptions and pricing. While inputting the specific amount, the estimator auto calculates prices.
- Custom line items can be created, modified or deleted as needed.
- Line items represent the actual billable components of the project

Other payment and pricing Components
Beyond base line-item pricing, estimates may also include discounts (configured in the Price List or applied manually)
All pricing elements displayed in the estimate are driven by administrative settings and Price List configuration.
