When do I need to Rebuild an Estimate Template?

Understand when estimate templates should be updated or rebuilt due to changes in products, validations, or estimate structure.

Article Introduction

Estimate Templates are designed to define the structure of an estimate. While they do not automatically update, they may not always require rebuilding when changes occur. Understanding when updates are needed helps maintain accurate and consistent estimates.

When Templates Should Be Reviewed or Rebuilt

  • Changes in Products or Services: If new products, materials, or services are added to the Price List, templates may need to be updated to include those items.

  • New or Updated Validations: If validations are added or modified, templates may require updates to ensure required selections are properly configured.

  • Changes in Estimate Structure: If the way estimates are organized changes (groups, packages, or presentation), templates should be adjusted to match the updated structure.

When Templates May Not Need Rebuilding

Templates do not always need to be rebuilt after price list updates.

  • Templates define structure, not finalized pricing
  • Pricing is applied when the template is used in an estimate
  • In many cases, templates will already reflect updated pricing when applied

How to Update a Template

If updates are needed:

  • Modify or rebuild the template using current line items
  • Ensure all required validations are satisfied
  • Save the template as a new version if necessary
